Global warming and economic volatility are here to stay. Despite the engulfing impact these will have on our lives, it is our natural tendency to address these issues with varying levels of urgency depending on our perceptions.

The view that responses can be made at a time of our choosing defies reality. The forces of change are immune to linear predictability and flout conventional planning.

Those who decide to simply tinker with marginal improvement will find that short term wins don't fix the problem.

Successful organisations will be those who opt for transformational change.

This can't be bought: it requires dedicated leadership open to radical levels of transparency and a willingness to confront the most innate assumptions behind their decisions.

Organisations need to ‘unlearn' outdated beliefs and practices. They need to continually reassess and redesign the relationships between people, resources and systems. Only by doing so will they keep their most valuable staff and their most profitable markets.

It is a huge adjustment, but one which cannot be avoided if an organisation is to succeed.

The Eureka framework helps decision-makers to design and implement new ways of looking at the future. It is a methodology that establishes continuous validation of the information, talent and strategies on which successful organisations rely.

eureka methodology

WHY ADOPT THE EUREKA METHODOLOGY?

As the world around us changes - and global warming will change it beyond our comprehension - smart organisations realise they will also need to change in order to survive and thrive.

No two organisations are alike. Two can share the same number of staff, the same structure, the same client base and the same aspirations, but no two organisations share the same people. It is the people who power the dynamics of an organisation and it is the people who ultimately determine whether the organisation will be successful.

Given this, organisations need to truly understand their people and also identify if their people understand not only the organisation, but themselves.

Organisational thinking is generally constrained by artificial boundaries around thought and capability. This is usually not the result of overt direction but the product of subliminal cues and untested perceptions.

Adopting The Eureka Methodoloy it can be confronting to staff at all levels, but in the end it teaches individuals to 'know thyself' and in doing so it equips them with the tools for personal and professional success.

THE FIVE PRINCIPLES OF THE EUREKA METHODOLOGY

1. Testing assumptions

Organisations often talk about values and mission statements but the core objective of the organisation is often lost between cliche promises and visions. Each individual assumes they know what the values are, but ask 10 people and there will be 10 different answers. How many can really translate these into a picture of what success actually 'looks like'? Eureka tests the basic assumptions of team members so they can develop the methods and discipline to redesign their strategies and efforts to suit.

2. Challenging perceptions

Often people are driven by sub-conscious perceptions which are based on their personal insights and life experience. How relevant are these in the work environment? Eureka works with the team to uncover these perceptions and teaches the individuals to replace redundant suppositions with evidence based assessments which are essential to the organisation's planning and operations.

3. Understanding connections

Team members need to truly understand where they and their responsibilities fit within the organisation. Eureka assists them assess the roll they play and how their contribution affects the organisation, their colleagues and their markets. Attitudes and causal behaviour can also have a detrimental affect and by understanding how others 'tick' radically improves relationships within the team.

Armed with new skills team members are assisted to develop a new reality in which to operate successfully and energetically.

4. Reconsidering knowledge

Just like people and organisations, the growth of knowledge and skills often becomes hostage to stereotypes and habit. Knowledge has become a perishable commodity and team members are assisted to develop a systematic approach to testing the diversity and value of their intellectual property. As well as developing a new approach to

learning, team members are taught how to 'unlearn' information and methodologies that have become redundant and sometimes dangerous. This allows them to start with a blank slate and an open and eager mind.

5. Continuous validation

Eureka assists the team members to develop a process for identifying and measuring the progress which they and their organisation make. This involves an embedded discipline of continuous validation of assumptions, perceptions, knowledge and progress across all aspects of organisational activity. The continuous validation process constantly challenges objectives, measures success and establishes a healthy and profitable contest of ideas and value.

HOW DO YOU FIND OUT IF THE EUREKA METHODOLOGY CAN ASSIST YOUR ORGANISATION?

In the first instance, Eureka will meet with the responsible executive to discuss how their organisation might benefit from the methodology. We prepare a summation of our interpretation of that discussion and propose a draft program, incorporating the five principles, which would best suit the organisation. We would provide a timeframe for delivery and detail the costs involved.
